Herbalism 101

Wildwood Institute

Saturday, May 12th, 2018 from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Herbal medicine is different than conventional medicine, with its own wisdom, language and power. This workshop will give you an understanding of herbal medicine from the roots up, including the ways that herbal remedies are different than drugs, and how herbalism is different from other modalities with which it is confused, such as homeopathy and aromatherapy. Kathleen Raven Wildwood will explain surprisingly simple biological facts about plant cells that guide us in choosing which herbal preparations might be better for which herbs, and the benefits and drawbacks of common herbal preparations, including tinctures, long infusions, capsules and more (examples provided to taste and smell!). She will also discuss how to use herbs safely, and when to seek conventional treatment. Space is limited - register early.
