Herbalism 101

Our most popular class, an introduction to the use of plants for food or medicine. Learn about safe and effective uses of herbs, and how herbal medicine is different than conventional medicine.

Saturday, May 16, 2020    10am - 5pm

There are safe, effective and inexpensive herbal remedies that can help you and your loved ones feel better. This informative class includes:

  • An introduction to the different types of herbal preparations: tinctures, teas, capsules, and more.
  • A virtual outdoor herb walk to enjoy and learn about local herbs. We will plan to take a break so that people can go out and look for the plants we are discussing in their own vicinity.
  • How to use herbs safely.
  • How herbs differ from homeopathy, aromatherapy, and other “alternative” health treatments.
  • The Four Directions of Herbal Information, including Western herbal traditions and science.
  • Basic wildcrafting guidelines.
  • We will finish by making a wild salad, virtually, together.
